Expectations
Rules in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria and on the playground
I expect the students to
- speak German
- raise their arm, if they want to say/ask something
- listen to one another
- move through the hallways quietly
- help each other
- treat everyone with respect
- be responsible
Individual consequences
If there are misbehaviors, the students get up to 3 warnings on the whiteboard. With the third warning they have to fill out a paper reflecting their behavior. They take this paper home for the parents to read and sign and return it the next day after having a conversation with the parents.
If the consequence could not be given on the same day for some reason, the child will receive that consequence on the following school day.
Individual rewards
Students that have been exceptionally well behaved and do the right thing without being asked to do so may get a RAMS sticker on their individual sheet in the classroom. There are PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) parties at the end of each quarter that only the ones can take part in who collected enough RAMS stickers. The students know how many they have to collect in each quarter.
For not getting any warnings the children receive stamps each day which they can collect on a piece of paper. They can choose something from the treasure box (no candy or any kind of food) for 10 stamps or have lunch with me in the classroom for 15 stamps.
Responsibilities
Students:
Every child has a classroom job that he/she needs to take care of. Any breaks of this duty may result in not being given a RAMS sticker or stamp. The jobs change each month.
The students turn in every form and test/quiz that parents have signed.
Parents:
Parents check the red communication folder daily to see, if there are tests, quizzes or forms to sign. They need to be returned in one week.
Homework Policy
Homework is due in the mornings before special area class. Late homework is accepted if due to an absence. Sick students at home should still attempt to do their homework, if they can and have the appropriate materials with them. If the student was not able to do the homework, parents send in a note/email to let the teacher know.
